When removing screws from the playfield, reinstall by first turning them counter-clockwise to match the original groove in order to respect the integrity of the playfield wood.
- Pull playfield out to where rubber stoppers are resting on edge of cabinet.
- Prop up playfield with a piece of 2x4 plywood in order to lift back end up. Make sure plywood is propping up an area of playfield without any assemblies as to avoid damage. Playfield should be parallel with ground. FOR REFERENCE: This particular piece of wood was 19" and worked perfectly.
- Unplug sign LED assembly from back of playfield.
- Unscrew four main screws from front of Subway building. Se aside for step 14. NOTE: Screws on right side of building are difficult to get to. An angled screwdriver is ideal. We recommend following the methods below for removal with a normal screwdriver.
- Position your screwdriver to the right of Godzilla (Near his head on the Pro and underneath his arm for Prem/LE) and weed the shank through the ramp.
- Place sticky notes between ramp and artwork on building. Gently remove factory building from playfield. NOTE: Be VERY careful when removing building as ramp is very close to building and the artwork scratches off very easily.
- Unscrew screws holding up acrylic from backside of building. Place these two screws and LED assembly to the side for step 12. Remove acrylic with LED assembly and place building in a safe space for reinstallation of factory parts.
- Unscrew three screws from front of subway acrylic. Use pliers to hold nuts on back of LEDs while unscrewing. Save screws, nuts, and spacers in a safe space for reinstallation of factory parts. Be mindful of spacers in between acrylic and boards.
- Tape sensor boards onto metal brackets using the two small tapes provided. Holes should line up.
- Cut three very small pieces of red tape, around 3mm. Remove red backing and tape LED boards to back of Subway Sign. Hold each board in place for 30 seconds to allow full adhesion.
- Place other large tape onto top of bracket like so. Trim off excess.
- Slide remaining portion of LED boards into cutouts inside bracket. Align top tape with cutout on back of sign. Sign and edge of bracket should sit flush. Hold for 30 seconds.
- Using screws from step 6 and nuts from step 7, screw sign bracket onto brackets on backside of Subway Mod.
- Slide Subway mod back over ramp and reattach using screws from step 4. FOR PREM/LE ONLY: Remove factory acrylic that covers Godzilla's tail and replace with one provided. Click here for an article that shows how to install the replacement acrylic.
- Snake LED assembly to backside of playfield and plug in. LED assembly should sit like in first photo. Plug back into assembly.
- Attach Subway Mod using four screws from step 4. Reinstall in similar manner as step 4.
- Remove backing from sookwang from underside (flat) of roof and attach onto mod.
- Installation complete

How do We install this subway sign if we didnt buy the building? Really regretting not purchasing but my wife got me these signs for Christmas and I see that I cant just buy the buildings 🥲😪😢😭
The holes in the building brackets are not threaded so using the screws from step 6 probably won’t last. Instead I used two of the screw/nuts from step 7.
Agree that using the step 6 screws for step 12 doesn't work. The holes are not threaded, the bolt is smaller than the hole, and the bolt isn't long enough to put a nut on it. Used screws and nuts from step 7 instead.
This was a nightmare to install for all the reasons mentioned previously and at least a dozen more. The screws are not long enough, trying to get the subway onto the game and then using tape for the circuits so you can screw it into the house. Sure, it looks good, however I have no idea if this will last because I am not sure I was able to get all the screws mounted. Total disaster and no room to work.
Alignment on the left side off the mod seemed off, but didn't feel comfortable at all having tape secure those opto's. Just got longer brass screws (to better match the color for one) to ensure that they are securely in place. I think being able to account for variances in the build is tough to account for on these mods, but it does look quite a bit more substantial than the completely low-end options Stern used on the BOM for the Premium. Those paper thin plastic "buildings" are horrendous.
