NOTE: TRANSLUCENT TARGETS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH REPLACEMENT TARGET SPRINGS PROVIDED BY STERN PINBALL
Install difficulty: Moderate
- Tools needed: 1/4 nutdriver/wrench, 5/16 nutdriver/wrench, Flat head screwdriver, Philips head screwdriver, needle nose pliers.
- We recommend magnetic screwdrivers, if you have them. If not, then that is fine, it just might make it slightly more challenging.
- Turn off game. Remove glass from game and set in a safe and secure location.
- If you have gameblades/ art blades, Place the Pinball Cabinet Assembly Protectors on each side of the machine. Next remove the pinballs from the trough. Then lift the playfield into the upright position.
- Locate the area with the drop target assembly. This will be the area that you need to use in order to get the targets lit up.
- For those who do not intend to put on the clear drop targets, skip steps to step 25. Otherwise continue to follow the steps outlined below.
- Disconnect the three 5-pin plugs that go into each of the drop target assemblies. Label each connector to make sure that it is plugged into the correct slot.
- Remove the 72 Seasons drop target by using a flat head screw driver. Set the screws in a secure location.
- The drop target assembly is held onto the main function by one flat head screw and a 5/16 nut. Unscrew the nuts and screws and set them in a secure location.
- Once all three are removed, it should like the image below. Now take the three assemblies and set them on a flat surface.
- We will now add the clear drop targets to the assembly.
- Flip the drop target assembly so it looks like the image below.
- Remove the two Philips head screws that hold in the board and set the board and two screws in a secure spot.
- Remove the two black tabs, and the washer and spring on the upper post.
- Remove the two washers that sit above the drop target.
- Remove the black drop target from the assembly, then remove the long spring from the black drop target.
- Take the clear drop target provided and attach the factory decal to it.
- Now place the clear drop target in the assembly, and add the two washers. Attach the long spring to the drop target and then back onto the assembly.
- Place the spring and washer on the upper post.
- Add the two black tabs to the drop target assembly.
- Now put the board back onto the assembly and screw it down with the two Philips head screws.
- Do Steps 10 -19 for the other two drop target assemblies.
- Take the drop target assemblies and return to the game. Now we will reattach the drop targets to the main assembly. Please note that the drop target assembly on the bottom has a shorter mount.
- First, reattach the first drop target assembly to the main assembly, using the 5/16 nut and the screw.
- Now, reattach the 72 seasons target back into position.
- Then place the other two drop target assemblies back into position and secure them using the remaining 5/16 nuts and flat head screws. While the image below has reattached the connectors that go to the drop targets, this isn't necessary as you will be taking them out.
- Make sure that the two upper 5-pin connectors are removed from their connections. Make sure to label both as the top and the middle.
- Now, take the light assembly out of the bag. It should like the image below. Tape should be attached to the bottom.
- Remove the brown paper on tape, Now finagle the assembly so that it lies on the metal and is like the image below. So long as the lights are shining up and the assembly is attached to the drop targets, it will be good to go.
- Remove the wood screw that holds the light below in place.
- Remove the LED from the socket and place the bulb provided in the socket.
- Reattach the light into it's proper position using the wood screw.
- Make sure that the connectors that attach to the drop target assemblies are in their proper positions.
- Lower the playfield down and place it back into it's proper position. If you are using the Pinball Cabinet Assembly Protectors, you can now remove them. Place pinballs back into machine. Then, at last, slide the glass back onto the machine and secure the lockdown bar.
