MM-KONG-TARG-ILLUM-1 INSTRUCTIONS
- Turn machine off. Open coin door and remove lockdown bar from the top of the game by releasing the latches that hold the lockdown bar in place.
- Next, remove the glass from the game. We recommend setting it down on a soft surface, or using corner protectors, as shown in the photo below. Make sure location is secure and won't cause glass to break.
- If you have gameblades/ art blades, Place the Pinball Cabinet Assembly Protectors on each side of the machine.
- Lift playfield into the service position. Remove the the pinball from the trough.
- Now, lift the playfield into the upright position.
- Locate drop targets. Disconnect 3-pin molex connector that powers the solenoid for the drop targets.
- Now, disconnect 9-pin connector on the backside of the drop targets.
- Next, locate the 4 1/4 screws that hold the drop target assembly to the game.
- Unscrew the screws from the playfield. Set the screws in a safe and secure location as to not lose them.
- Now remove drop target assembly from game and set it on a flat surface.
- With the drop target assembly on a flat surface remove two of the Philips head screws from the assembly. Check the image below to make sure that the correct screws have been removed.
- Now place the Drop Target Illumination onto the drop target assembly. We recommend doing each side individually. Take note that the bracket that is oriented the correct way goes where the middle screw is while the bracket that is backwards goes on the end screw. Screw the Philips head screws back into position.
- Now take the four 1/4 screws removed in step 9 and the drop target assembly. Reattach the assembly to the game using the four 1/4 screws.
- Reconnect the 3-pin molex that powers the solenoid for the drop targets.
- Then, reattach the 9-pin connector to the drop target assembly.
- Finally, to power the LED's you will need to find a bulb socket that houses a #44 bulb. Their is a socket near the standup target on the left ramp that we recommend, but you can use any bulb socket that has a #44 bulb in it. An image has been provided of where the socket is.
- Unscrew the flat head screw by either using a flat head screwdriver or a 1/4 nutdriver. Remove the #44 bulb from the socket and then replace it with the #44 Matrix bulb at the end of the Drop Target Illumination. Make sure the bulb is secure in the socket.
- Screw the socket back into it's proper location using the flathead screw.
- Lower the playfield back into the game. Put the balls back in the trough. If you are using the Pinball Cabinet Assembly Protectors, you can now remove them and set them in a secure location. Take the glass and put it back in the game. Finally, reattach lockdown bar to game by placing it into position and securing it with the latches.
- Done! Enjoy the target illumination.

- Unscrew the screws from the playfield. Set the screws in a safe and secure location as to not lose them.
- Now remove drop target assembly from game and set it on a flat surface.
- With the drop target assembly on a flat surface remove the eight Philips head screws from the assembly. Check the image below to make sure that the correct screws have been removed.
- Remove optical board and set it and the eight screws into a secure location.
- Now we will remove one of the drop targets. We recommend starting with one of the edge ones and working your way into the middle one's.
- Take a pair of needle nose pliers and remove the locking tab that holds the drop target into place.
- Next, remove the spring and the washer from the top of the drop target and set them in a secure location.
- Then remove the two washers, one at the bottom and one at the top of the drop target. Set the wasers in a secure location.
- Now remove the drop target from the assembly. Try to keep the spring attached to the drop target.
- Before you put the clear drop targets on the game, make sure to use the factory goodie bag and use the decals for the drop targets on the replacements. Try to center them as best as you can.
- Check the letter of the drop target you have removed, and take the clear drop target and place it near the drop target removed. Remove the spring from the drop target and then add it to the clear drop target.
- Attach the clear drop target to the drop target assembly by securing the spring onto the tab on the assembly, as pictured below.
- Place two of the washers on the bottom of the clear drop target.
- Place the small spring on the top hole of the drop target assembly, and then place the last washer on top of the spring.
- Now, push the locking tabs back into position. You should hear a click, even if it is faint. So long as the tab is not easy to move, then it is back into position.
- Repeat steps 13 - 23 for the other three drop targets (sans step 18). Once this is completed, all of the drop targets should be the clear ones, as pictured below.
- Now place the optical board back onto the assembly. Make sure the orientation of the board is correct, as if it isn't the drop targets won't work.
- Screw 6 of the 8 Philips heads screws back into position.
- Now place the Drop Target Illumination onto the drop target assembly. We recommend doing each side individually. Take note that the bracket that is oriented the correct way goes where the middle screw is while the bracket that is backwards goes on the end screw. Screw the Philips head screws back into position.
